The diamond guide

How to read a diamond, how large it will look, and the standard every Ocera stone is held to.

Size on the hand

Choose a shape and a carat weight to see roughly how large the stone will sit on the finger.

Drawn to scale on an average finger. Sizes are approximate; a stone's cut changes how large it looks.

Carat is weight, not size. Two stones of the same weight can measure differently depending on how they are cut. Try it in the design studio

Cut

Cut

The work of the hand: how well the facets return light. It decides a diamond's fire and brightness more than any other factor.

Color

Color

Graded from D, colorless, downward. Ready-to-wear Ocera diamonds are G to H: bright white to the eye.

Clarity

Clarity

The absence of inclusions. Ready-to-wear stones are SI1 to SI2, eye-clean. Bespoke center stones begin at VS.

Carat

Weight, not size. Shape and cut decide how large a stone looks on the hand.

The cuts

Every shape is available in both origins, and every one can be set in any Ocera design.

Round

The brilliant: the most light, the most fire.

Oval

Elongates the hand, with brilliant fire.

Pear

Part round, part marquise: a teardrop.

Emerald

Step-cut planes, a hall of mirrors.

Marquise

Pointed ends, the largest face for its weight.

Cushion

Soft corners, an antique glow.

Princess

Square, sharp and brilliant.

Radiant

Cut corners with brilliant faceting.

Asscher

A square step cut with deep, concentric planes.

Heart

The most sentimental of shapes.

Two origins, one standard.

Ancient Star, natural. Human Star, lab-grown. Either can be chosen for any Ocera piece, and both are held to the same standard.
